If you’ve worked in residential care, you’ll know it’s one of the most rewarding (and one of the most challenging) sectors in the UK. Every day, people across the country are changing lives by supporting young people in care. But behind that dedication, there’s a real challenge: children’s residential care staffing is under growing pressure.
Across the UK, children’s homes are struggling to find and keep the right people. Research shows that staff turnover in residential care is around 30% each year, and 69% of managers say it’s difficult to find experienced care staff. Many homes report it can take over three months to fill a role and that’s before factoring in training, support, or supervision.
At Be Inspired Residential, we’ve seen this first-hand. Our team has decades of experience across youth work, social care, and education and we kept seeing the same issues: the system was stretched, and the people holding it together weren’t getting the support they needed.
Building Be Inspired Residential Care
We started Be Inspired Residential Care Services to raise the standard of residential care by investing in the people who make it possible.
For us, care isn’t just about a building or a bed. It’s about trust, consistency, and relationships - the kind that help young people feel safe, valued, and ready to thrive. But that can only happen if homes have the right staff which includes people who are supported, skilled, and appreciated for the work they do.
That’s where we come in.
Changing How Children’s Residential Care Staffing Works
Based in South London, Be Inspired Residential partners with children’s homes across the UK to deliver high-quality children’s residential care staffing by connecting homes with skilled professionals who are ready to make a difference from day one.
Our approach is different. We don’t just “fill shifts.” We build teams. Through our temp-to-perm staffing model, homes can trial staff before committing to long-term roles therefore reducing turnover and improving stability.
We also make sure every professional we place is fairly paid, clinically supervised, and offered ongoing training and development. Because when staff feel supported and valued, young people receive better, more consistent care.
Beyond Staffing – Strengthening Every Part of Residential Care
We understand that challenges in residential care go beyond staffing. That’s why our services extend into consultancy, compliance, training, and service development. From preparing for Ofsted inspections and registering new homes to delivering bespoke training and leadership coaching, we’re here to help homes stay confident, compliant, and ready to provide exceptional care.
Our training and development pathways are designed around real-life practice, helping teams build resilience, strengthen safeguarding, and see residential care as a meaningful career, not just a job.
Putting People First in Residential Care
The residential care sector is full of passionate, committed professionals. But it cannot thrive on passion alone. It needs stability, investment, and support.
At Be Inspired Residential, we’re proud to partner with children’s homes that share our belief that quality care starts with quality people. We also create opportunities for staff who want to grow, learn, and build a long-term career in children’s residential care staffing.
Through our partnership with Be Inspired Youth & Community CIC, we’re connecting care with the community by offering young people opportunities in mentoring, sport, and education beyond the walls of residential settings.
Looking Ahead – The Future of Residential Care
We know there’s still work to do, but we’re excited about the future of residential care. Our goal is to see a sector where staff feel supported and proud, homes are stable and consistent, and young people are surrounded by adults who believe in them.
If you’re a children’s home looking for help with children’s residential care staffing, training, or compliance, or a professional ready to take the next step in your residential care career, we’d love to hear from you.
Because together, we can make sure residential care is more than just somewhere to stay. It’s a place where young people can believe, belong, and build a brighter future.
